New Building Phase 4 Progress Report Construction of the New Building is now underway and this space will be dedicated to a photographic record of progress in the months ahead. Members should notice the building going up quite quickly behind the Family Clubhouse, on the space formerly occupied by Tennis Court 1. As such, the building has a rather small “footprint”, although the upper floors are cantilevered to accommodate the two covered tennis courts. At the time of writing, we anticipate a phased opening of the building in May-June 2006. Interpreting the photos You will notice that most photos refer to different levels, beginning with level 4. Due to the sloped nature of our site, level 4 represents the first level of the New Building, which is dedicated to staff use. Level 5 includes the bowling alley and café. Level 6 and Upper Level 6 accommodate junior activity areas, the library and management offices, while Level 7 is dedicated to the spa. The new spa promises to be the first of its kind for a private club in Asia, with facilities and treatments similar to those offered in the finest hotels and resorts. The top of the building is dedicated to two covered tennis courts. A sectional (side view) plan of the building is included for your reference. Phase 5 The New Building represented Phase 4 of the multi-year five phase building programme. Previous phases have addressed the Ladies’ Changing Room, gym, Boys’ and Girls’ Changing Rooms, Family Clubhouse, etc. Once the New Building opens, the offices, Library and Reading Room will move to the New Building, facilitating the renovation of the Main Clubhouse.
